On May 16, 2024 Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles, Inc. held our May General Body Meeting, “Lessons in Legal Leadership” at Perkins Coie LLP. Esteemed Panelists included Barbra Diallo, Adrienne Logan, and Shawn White. Panelists shared their wisdom on obtaining, holding, and balancing the demands of various legal leadership roles including in-house counsel and general counsel roles.

February 2024 General Body Meeting: Black Women Bar Leaders

On Thursday February 29, 2024 Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles Inc., along with CAALA, and WLALA presented an intimate fireside chat with the three current Black Women Bar Leaders. Participants heard the stories and experiences of Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles’s President Jeannine Taylor, Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Inc.’s President Ronni Whitehead Otieno, and Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles’s President Ibiere Seck. One thing all of the speakers encouraged all attendees to do is get involved with bar associations and continue on their professional and personal career development.

January 2024 General Body Meeting

On January 18, 2024 Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles, Inc. and Seyfarth’s Women’s Network and African American Affinity Group held a CLE panel on “Current Issues Facing Women in the Workplace.” The panel focused on a variety of current legal issues impacting women at work and provided attendees with 1.0 hour of CLE credit, networking and fellowship.

On November 15, 2023, Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles, Inc. held an informative virtual panel on Reforms in Policing and the Criminal Legal System. The discussion included issues such as resentencing, cash bail, the Racial Justice Act, police accountability, and policies for more progressive law enforcement. October 2023 General Body Meeting

On October 18, 2023 Black Women Lawyers, Inc. held our General Body Meeting at the historic Wilfandel Club. The Wilfandel Club is the oldest African-American Women’s club in Los Angeles founded in 1945 with the goal of promoting civic betterment, philanthropic endeavors, and general culture. We had our meeting there, hosting a dinner, raffle and fellowship.
