President Otieno delivered a powerful message of hope, resilience, and inspiration, challenging everyone present to persevere in the face of adversity. She also expressed her commitment to increasing membership and fostering a strong and inclusive community within Black Women Lawyers, Inc. A significant highlight of the evening was the recognition and honoring of three exceptional trailblazing women who have made significant contributions to their respective fields.
Mayor Karen Bass, the first black woman elected Mayor of the City of Los Angeles, was celebrated for her groundbreaking achievements and commitment to public service. Dean Franita Tolson, a voting rights expert and the first black woman to serve as Interim Dean at USC Gould School of Law, received well-deserved recognition for her groundbreaking work in legal education. Additionally, Adrienne Logan, a distinguished Global Corporate Counsel, was honored for her exemplary achievements in the corporate sector.
